Welcome to the International School of Hamburg! Some of our students have created a video to welcome new students and families to the school. Everybody knows how difficult it can be to move to an unfamiliar setting and how nervous one get to start at a new school. By watching this student movie, we hope that students coming to Hamburg, and to our school, will feel a bit more relaxed about it, and recognize the building and become familiar with our surroundings.
ISH celebrated the 60th anniversary and the school was buzzing with positive vibes last week. Prior to the Anniversary, we asked our alumni to share their best memories of ISH and how our school has impacted their life. Here is what 10 of our former students had to share, enjoy!
The Summerfest and Fleamarket at the International School of Hamburg is always a great event, gathering parents, students, and staff, as well as members of the broader Hamburg community. Director John Neumeier Pedagogical Principal and Deputy Director Gigi Hyatt The School of The Hamburg Ballet, established in 1978, trains young people from all over the world for a professional dance career. All classes are held in the Ballettzentrum Hamburg - John Neumeier. This building has nine studios, used by both The Hamburg Ballet Company and the School. Boarding facilities are also available within the building for 35 pupils. Entrance examinations for pupils are held annualy in spring. Preparatory classes are for children aged 7 to 9, professional ballet classes for those aged 10 to 16, and the Theatre Class program for pupils aged 16 to 18 (boys to 19). Boarding at the BBIS offers students from Grade 9 to 12 the opportunity to live on campus, concentrate on their schoolwork, develop long-lasting relationships and enrich their lives in a multi-cultural community of fellow students.
For the annual AGIS (Association of German International Schools) conference, each member school was asked to create a short video where students would answer the question “What does learning in an international school mean to you?” in their mother tongue.

Youth Time Summer School brings together the most active, like-minded members of the Youth Time International Movement from around the world. The Summer School is aimed at getting young people the skills they need to enhance their professionalism and personalities. The program features intensive and interactive small-group lessons taught by professionals and specialists in their fields. Besides the main program Youth Time offer various cultural and informal activities. In addition to the educational program, the Summer School includes a round tables, inspirational meetings, discussion on current affairs with a panel of international experts.
